Comprehensive Dry Rot Treatment in Greater Victoria on Vancouver Island
Be wary of the dry rot alert - dry, cracking, rotting wood! Dry rot can also crop up through damp mortar, masonry, concrete, and behind plaster, making remediation complicated and expensive. If not treated in time, the infestation can spread and weaken the structural integrity of your property. Built-Rite Structural Services Ltd. has a long history of providing effective dry rot treatment in Greater Victoria on Vancouver Island.

We specialize in eliminating, preventing, and controlling dry rot problems in homes and residential buildings, particularly in vented crawl spaces and basements affected by groundwater flooding. Please feel free to give us a call to ask questions and schedule an inspection wherein our experts can help you find and seal out the sources of moisture in your home.
Steps to Professional Dry Rot Cleaning and Repair
Discovering dry rot infestations can threaten your property’s structural integrity. It leads to deterioration of support posts, beams, floor, ceiling joists, and roof decking. Our team efficiently replaces your dry-rot-affected structural components through lifting and shoring techniques. This also ensures that your property is safe in an earthquake. However, our dry rot repair and replacement services are limited to structural needs and don’t include removing rotten sidings or such other systems.

-
Remove dry rot-affected wood: Inspect all wood and remove those showing signs of decay or having visible fungus growth. We also remove the wood within one meter of proximity to eradicate the problem.
-
Remove other materials near damaged wood: Many other materials can contribute to dry rot problems. Hence, we remove all plaster, linings, panelling, and ceilings near the affected areas.
-
Wire-brush affected area: We use a wire brush to remove loose material from all surfaces, including metal, masonry, and pipes, up to 1.5 meters from the infestation. We also clean up dust and debris resulting from brush-cleaning.
-
Disinfect: We use disinfectant on all wood, masonry and exposed soil up to 1.5 meters from the dry rot affected areas.
-
Rebuild: We complete the job with structural replacements. Pressure-treated wood replaces substantially damaged beams, posts, and joists.
Dry Rot Removal in Basement or Crawl Space
Built-Rite Structural Services Ltd. helps property owners eliminate the dry rot infestation at the source. For basements, we resolve flooding problems, seal out humidity with a plastic vapour barrier applied on walls and floors, and then dry the area using a powerful, self-draining dehumidifier.

For crawl spaces, we start by sealing off the vents and door covers. Then, we encapsulate the area with a crawl space liner. A dehumidifier is again used to dry the area. Our dry rot prevention treatment also makes the area inhospitable for pests and mould problems.
